How do you deliver the caption files and in what formats?
The Amara On Demand service includes a private space on the Amara platform to view, edit and download your captions whenever you need them in any or all caption formats (SRT, DFXP, SBV, web VTT, TXT, and SSA). Please, also inquire about custom caption/subtitle formats such as SCC, CAP, ITT and many others.
We also offer an integration to YouTube and Vimeo that allows your captions to be published automatically on your channel once complete.
Can I check or edit the captions?
Yes, you can review and edit your captions using our award-winning Amara Editor which is included in the service.
Can I request changes to the captions after delivery?
You can request non-stylistic corrections to the captions within 30 days of delivery at no extra charge.
How are your captioning rates calculated?
• Based on the actual length of the videos.
• Runtime is calculated to the second.
• Rates depend on the requested languages.
What’s your turnaround time for human-created captions?
Standard turnaround times: 2 - 3 business days for projects 30 minutes or less in length. Please add 1 business day for each additional 30 minutes.
Rush turnaround times: 1 business day for content of 30 minutes or less. Please add an additional day for each additional 30 minutes.
Do you support SDH captions?
Yes, we support SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing). If you select SDH captions, they will include:
• Subtitle tags to identify speakers not visually clear to clarify who is speaking.
• Subtitle tags to describe sounds and music, which are relevant to the plot of the video and cannot be visually identified.
• Italics which indicate when the speaker is not present in the scene (like flashbacks, narration, etc.)
Do you deliver Closed or Open Captions?
Amara On Demand offers Closed Captioning service. Closed Captions allow your audience to select the option of viewing your videos with captions on or off. With Open Captions, captions are shown permanently with the video. If you are interested in Open Captions, ask our team for more information about this service.
Can you deliver captions burnt into the video?
Yes, we can deliver captions burnt-in or hard-coded into the video. These are known as Open Captions. Please inquire about this service if needed.
What if I have specific custom glossaries or style guides?
Please share them and we will be happy to create your captions according to your specifications.
Can I create my own captions on Amara?
Absolutely, we offer both professional subtitles as well as a team space for you and your team to create your own captions. Many of our clients use a hybrid solution of On Demand, along with our Amara Platform offering, which allows them to build and manage their own team of in-house linguists.
